After a year filled with injuries, ups, and downs, the Eagles are looking forward to the 2020 NFL Draft to retool their team for a run in the 2020 NFL season. With franchise quarterback Carson Wentz under contract, a solid offensive line, two great young tight ends and a young running back in Miles Sanders, the Eagles are missing just one thing. Healthy receivers have plagued the Eagles for a few seasons. After losing DeSean Jackson early and having the inconsistent Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor as the only two remaining targets, they missed time and the Eagles were forced to use Greg Ward and practice squad players at receiver.
In 2020, the Eagles will look to add more bodies to their receiving corps in the NFL Draft, and you can bet on that. Sportsbooks have NFL Draft odds posted on who will be the first player selected by the Eagles (and other teams) that can be wagered on. Let’s take a look at those odds, the Eagles draft history, and more.

Eagles Potential First Round Picks
Justin Jefferson
Justin Jefferson is the heavy favorite to be the first Eagles’ player drafted in April’s NFL Draft, as he sits at +165 currently. Jefferson was one of the featured pieces in last year’s dominant LSU offense that won the National Championship and set all sorts of records along the way. With the nickname “Jets”, Jefferson could be an instant contributor for the Eagles. Take a look what he did last season with the LSU Tigers. Justin’s former teammate Joe Burrow is set to go #1 in the draft to the Bengals.
Denzel Mims
Denzel Mims has been a late riser since the NFL Combine, and he is +625 to be the first player drafted by the Eagles. Mims is a physical specimen at 6’3″ and over 200 pounds. At the NFL combine, Mims ran a 4.38 40-yard dash, had a 38.5-inch vertical leap and performed well in nearly every other exercise. Take a look at his NFL Combine page via NFL.com. The former Baylor Bears star is set to be a high draft pick in April, and he has the third-shortest odds to be the Eagles’ first pick. The Eagles do not have a player with the size/speed combination of Mims, so he would be an immediate fit.

Henry Ruggs III
Former Alabama speedster Henry Ruggs III is +510 to be the first player selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL Draft, but it is not likely he lasts until pick 21. Will the Eagles need to trade up to get him? We will see, but Ruggs is a dominant player in terms of speed and ability with the football, and would be an electric complement to DeSean Jackson, Zach Ertz, and others. Ruggs ran a 4.27 in this year’s NFL combine, but rumors are he will not get past the Denver Broncos at 15.

Philadelphia Eagles Mock Draft 2020
With the 21st pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select:
Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU
Jefferson seems like the perfect fit for the Eagles assuming they cannot go all the way up to get Jerry Jeudy. Jefferson can be a true number one receiver, winning in all areas of the field. Of course, he may have looked great in a Joe Brady system with Joe Burrow, but his size and speed combination paired with production is too good to pass up for the Eagles, who truly do not have a number one receiver. The Eagles currently boast Alshon Jeffery, who is not fast enough to be a top-tier WR anymore, DeSean Jackson in the twilight of his career after missing a season due to injury, and Greg Ward who is best-suited as a slot receiver. Their true downfield threat after Jackson is missing, and Jefferson can fit that bill right away.
Other potential picks: Henry Ruggs III, Denzel Mims, Grant Delpit, Xavier McKinney
Philadelphia Eagles First Round NFL Draft History
Philadelphia Eagles 1st Round Picks | Year | Overall Pick |
Andre Dillard | 2019 | 22 |
Derek Barnett | 2017 | 14 |
Carson Wentz | 2016 | 2 |
Nelson Agholor | 2015 | 20 |
Marcus Smith | 2014 | 26 |
Lane Johnson | 2013 | 4 |
Fletcher Cox | 2012 | 12 |
Danny Watkins | 2011 | 23 |
Brandon Graham | 2010 | 13 |
Jeremy Maclin | 2009 | 19 |
Brodrick Bunkley | 2006 | 14 |
Mike Patterson | 2005 | 31 |
The Eagles have only picked 12 times in the first round since 2005, and have been relatively hit or miss. While finding gems such as Lane Johnson and Fletcher Cox, the Eagles have certainly had their miscues in Nelson Agholor (debatable), Marcus Smith, and Danny Watkins. Look for the Eagles to add plenty of offensive talent this year, but remember the Eagles have to add some depth to their defense after losing some key pieces including Malcolm Jenkins, Nigel Bradham, and others.
