In just a few short weeks, the 2020-21 NBA season will begin after this past campaign just concluded in October, which means it’s time to start discussing the early odds for the prestigious Most Valuable Player Award.
Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo has surpassed all legitimate opponents en route to earning the award in each of the last two seasons, including this past year when he beat out the legendary LeBron James. And according to some early betting splits, the consensus is that Giannis could accomplish the three-peat.
Let’s take a look at the current DraftKings Sportsbook odds and splits for this esteemed honor.

Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic and Giannis are both favored at +450, but it’s clear the general public prefers the former.
Doncic is currently responsible for 36% of the handle and 25% of the bets, while Giannis is responsible for 10% and 6%, respectively. The Mavericks star is coming off a stellar season in which he averaged 28.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 8.8 assists on 46.3% shooting from the field and 31.6% from downtown.
Kevin Durant, set to finally make his Brooklyn Nets debut after sitting out this entire past season with a ruptured Achilles, is right behind Doncic and Antetokounmpo, possessing 10% of the handle and 12% of the bets. Nonetheless, that’s not the same story when discussing the odds, as KD (+1500) is farther down the list. Warriors point guard Stephen Curry (+800) and LeBron (+900) are ahead of Durant in those regards.
The lowest odds on the list are owned by Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons, sitting at +8000. He and Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young (+6000) are both talented players, but it’s a stretch to say either will win this season’s MVP. Nonetheless, 2% of the handle and 3% of the bets have gone towards either.
