The college football season rolls on with another week jam-packed with tough conference matchups. Last week saw a ton of major upsets with Boston College toppling Pittsburgh in overtime, Texas A&M beating Florida on a last-second field goal, and many more.

Georgia and Alabama highlight this week’s college football slate and it could be a preview of the SEC Championship Game. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised to see those two teams in the National Championship game down the road. But outside of Georgia-Bama, there are still a bunch of great games on the schedule.

Let’s take a look at this week’s matchups to find the best potential upsets for bettors.

Georgia over Alabama

You’d be hard-pressed to find a better matchup in college football this week than Georgia vs. Alabama. Hell, this might be the best regular-season game we’ll see all year. Georgia head coach Kirby Smart is facing his old mentor in Nick Saban. Alabama is on a six-game winning streak against the Bulldogs and Smart is winless against the Crimson Tide, but this time around could be different.

Alabama’s defense gave up 48 points to Ole Miss last week but the offense was able to put up 63 in the win behind Heisman contender Mac Jones. There’s no chance Bama can replicate that kind of offensive production against Georgia’s stout defense. As long as Stetson Bennett stays away from turnovers, Georgia will have a chance to win this one late.

At +194 odds, Georgia moneyline is the right play. After all, Kirby Smart will have to break his losing streak against Nick Saban eventually. Why not now?

Boston College over Virginia Tech

Boston College is a big-time underdog this week against Virginia Tech, but we’re not entirely sure why. The Eagles are 3-1 following an upset victory over Pittsburgh last week. Their only loss of the season came against North Carolina who is currently ranked No. 5 in the AP Top 25 Poll.  BC had a chance to tie it in the final minute and send it to overtime as well.

Boston College plays up to its competition and that shouldn’t change against Virginia Tech. The Hokies can score the football in bunches, but the defense is noticeably suspect. Sure, Virginia Tech deserves to be the favorite in this game. With that said, Boston College moneyline at +325 is too good to pass up.

Syracuse over Liberty

Syracuse is 1-3 with their only win coming against lowly Georgia Tech. On the other hand, Liberty is 4-0 and cruising along, but don’t be fooled by their records. Syracuse has already had to play two AP Top 25 teams this season while Liberty’s three-FBS opponents are a combined 1-10 in 2020.

We love home underdogs and Syracuse qualifies. Traveling all the way up to the Carrier Dome in Syracuse could prove to cause problems for the Flames. Liberty is 5-9 on the road since 2018. Conversely, the Orange are 11-4 at home in that same timeframe.

This won’t be the biggest upset of the week, but the smart play here is to take Syracuse as moneyline underdogs at home.
