With a new season on the horizon, it’s time to bet on MLB futures. One of the most popular markets for baseball bettors is wagering on who will win the Cy Young in each league. The American League boasts arguably the two best pitchers in baseball between Shane Bieber and Gerrit Cole, and both top the charts for AL Cy Young futures. With that said, not many predicted Bieber to be the winner last year so there is value to be had in the AL Cy Young market.
Let’s take a look at the odds to win, the opening odds, and some news that will be updated as the season progresses.
Odds To Win AL Cy Young
Here is a look at the odds to win the AL Cy Young, featuring a table with the best prices at all your favorite legal sportsbooks. Remember when it comes to betting on futures, it is key to get the best price long term. If you like a bet at +500, you may be able to find it at +600 at another sportsbook. Let’s take a look at the best odds available.
Opening Odds To Win 2021 AL Cy Young Award
|Player||Odds to Win Cy Young|
The AL Cy Young award will be one for the ages in 2021, especially if the opening odds are right and the race is as close as the prices are. The three at the top are Gerrit Cole, Shane Bieber, and Lucas Giolito all within a dollar of each other in terms of price. Of course, last year’s winner in Shane Bieber was projected to be the favorite to repeat, but Yankees’ starter Gerrit Cole leads the betting market at +350.
Last year, Bieber finished 8-1 with a ridiculous 1.63 ERA and 122 strikeouts in 77.1 innings of work. He allowed opposing batters to hit just .167, and lead the AL in all of the aforementioned categories. Cole was 7-3 with a 2.84 ERA and had 93 strikeouts in 73 innings of work. A terrific season, but not to Bieber’s standards. In terms of value, Bieber at +400 is a solid price given Cole is higher on opening odds.
