Buccaneers vs. Cowboys Game Notes

This is going to be a tough matchup for the Dallas defense. They struggled to stop the pass last year and there are few teams who sling it better than the Buccaneers.

On the bright side for the Cowboys, they added a few fresh faces to the defense via free agency and the draft. Micah Parsons is a do-it-all linebacker who should help solidify the heart of the defense. Meanwhile, Jerry Jones went out and added two safeties — Malik Hooker and Keanu Neal — to the party as well.

Will these additions be enough to slow down the Tampa Bay passing attack? Not likely. Tom Brady has no shortage of options on the outside. Mike Evans, Antonio Brown, Chris Godwin, and Rob Gronkowski are all dangerous pass catchers.

The best way to slow Brady down is by putting constant pressure on him. Again, that’s a tall task for the Cowboys. Outside of DeMarcus Lawrence, Dallas doesn’t have many consistent pass rushers. Not to mention, Tampa Bay has one of the best offensive lines in football.

Don’t expect the Buccaneers to run the ball very often. On the other hand, the Cowboys are going to need to control the rock if they want to pull off the upset. Three-time Pro Bowler Ezekiel Elliot is coming off of the worst season of his career, but he struggled behind an inept offensive line.

Unfortunately for Dallas, they won’t have offensive guard Zack Martin. The Pro Bowler has already been ruled out of Thursday night’s game after testing positive for COVID-19.

With Dak Prescott returning, the Cowboys are hoping that he can solve a bunch of the offensive issues. How will Prescott look after undergoing ankle surgery last year? He could be the X-factor who pushes Dallas past the defending Super Bowl champions. It won’t be easy for Dak. The last time we saw this Buccaneers defense they were shutting down Patrick Mahomes on the Super Bowl.

The Cowboys were 5-11 against the spread last year compared to the Bucs, who finished 11-8-1 all the way through their Super Bowl victory.

Buccaneers +73 on DraftKings Sportsbook?

There is a fool-proof way to win cash on this opening night game and you can find it on DraftKings Sportsbook. They are boosting the spread on the Bucs to +73 for new and existing users. This means that as long as Tampa Bay keeps the game within 73 points, you win. This is a complete no-brainer.

DraftKings Sportsbook Sets TB Bucs at +73 point Underdogs vs. Cowboys for New Week 1 Bettors

Our Week 1 TNF Prediction

Well, well, well, it’s the first game of the season and the first chance for bettors to win big on the NFL. Although the Buccaneers are sizable favorites, they are going to cover this spread with ease. Playing at home in front of a raucous crowd is going to give them a boost that they probably don’t even need.

The Dallas defense is going to be better this year, but it’s going to be tough for them to put it all together right away. For that reason, expect Brady and company to cruise to a Week 1 victory.

Prediction: Buccaneers win 34-17
