The Milwaukee Bucks and Houston Rockets are off on the right foot in the 2020 NBA restart. The Bucks held off the Boston Celtics on the back of a ridiculous, MVP-type performance from Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Houston Rockets did the same against the Dallas Mavericks with another former MVP, James Harden, leading the way.
The Rockets didn’t play much defense against the Mavs, but when you can score 150 points in a game, defense isn’t much of a concern. That won’t be the case against Milwaukee, who ranks as the top defense in the NBA.

Bucks vs. Rockets Predictions
The Bucks are a bonafide championship contender. There’s no doubt about it. After just missing out on making the NBA Finals last season, they came back stronger in 2020. Milwaukee is going to be a major test for Houston, who has championship dreams as well. The Bucks and Rockets both emphasize the three-point shot, but they do things a little differently. Milwaukee uses Brook Lopez as a stretch-center who can protect the rim and shoot the three.
However, the Rockets refuse to play traditional centers in the hopes of playing guys like Lopez off the floor. Houston’s goal is to drag you down to their level of small ball and beat you at that game. It’s easier said than done, but it could be the formula to throw a team like Milwaukee out of whack.
The good news for Milwaukee is that if they want to try and match Houston’s small-ball lineup, they can just put Antetokounmpo at the five and surround him with four shooters. They have the versatility to survive against any scheme, including Houston’s extreme strategy.
Bucks vs. Rockets ATS Pick
The Rockets recently went over 300 total points in their recent game against the Mavs so 241 should seem like easy pickings, but the Bucks are leaps and bounds better than the Mavericks defensively. The over still might be the right play, but it’s not a home run.
Milwaukee should be able to match Houston’s small-ball experiment. Therefore, take Milwaukee with the points and get it on PointsBet Sportsbook to take advantage of no juice NBA spreads.
