Scott Van Pelt Picks Week 15 College Football Championship Week 2019

Scott Van Pelt Picks Week 15 College Football Championship Week 2019

Last week, SVP was on a “bye week”. It was well deserved, as he says that “I’m past embarrassed, I’m numb”.

But as SVP says: “We are only a week away, from being a week away”, after the worst year in Winner$ history.

Two weeks ago SVP had:

  • Indiana +9.5 vs. Michigan – LOSS
  • Duke +7 AT Wake Forest – LOSS
  • Texas +5.5 AT Baylor – LOSS
  • Northwestern +13.5 vs. Minnesota – LOSS
  • Colorado +14 vs. Washington – WIN

SVP Picks Record to Date:  42-53

SVP Week 15 College Football Picks

SVP likes just two games this week, both being underdogs. Let’s take a look:

  • Georgia +7 vs. LSU
  • Wisconsin +16.5 vs. Ohio State

SVP also picks some NFL games as well for this week in Week 14. He likes:

  • Buffalo Bills +5.5 vs. Baltimore Ravens
  • New Orleans Saints -2.5 vs. San Francisco 49ers
  • Los Angeles Rams – PICK vs. Seattle Seahawks

In the segment, Stanford Steve likes Clemson -28.5. Steve says “Gimme Clemson, lay the points” after mentioning Clemson has won six straight games by 35 or more, the first team ever to do so.

SVP Pick by Pick Analysis

Georgia +7 vs. LSU

This is the big one for championship week, as the SEC championship will determine where LSU plays in the college football playoffs and whether or not Georgia is the second SEC team in the top four.

SVP likes Georgia, but the chalk leans towards LSU with many books reporting nearly 80% of the bets on the Tigers.

Wisconsin +16.5 vs. Ohio State

16.5 is a lot of points to cover if you are Ohio State, but the Buckeyes are clearly the more talented team. A lot will have to go right for Wisconsin to win the B1G title, but as far as covering they are being granted nearly two touchdowns and a field goal.

Earlier this season, Ohio State beat Wisconsin 38-7.

Buffalo Bills +5.5 vs. Baltimore Ravens

SVP tries his hand in the NFL, and picks the Bills +5.5 to cover against arguably the best team in the league in the Ravens. Many are wondering if the Bills are for real, and we will find out this week.

New Orleans Saints -2.5 vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Saints and 49ers could be a NFC Championship preview, and SVP is taking the Saints at home to cover just 2.5 points.

Los Angeles Rams – PICK vs. Seattle Seahawks

As SVP says, “Los Angeles (N)” is a pick ’em against the Seahawks in a NFC West divisional matchup. SVP takes the home team.

Last, SVP was 1-4 and continues his “worst year of Winner$ we’ve ever had.” said before Week 13. What a quote.

Scott Van Pelt Picks Week 13 College Football 2019

Scott Van Pelt Picks Week 13 College Football 2019

Each week, ESPN’s own Scott Van Pelt gives his favorite picks for College Football on SportsCenter, in a segment called Winner$.

Last week, SVP was 2-3 to continue his “worst year of Winner$ we’ve ever had.

SVP Picks Record to Date:  41-49

SVP Week 13 College Football Picks

SVP likes five games this week, all five being underdogs and three being home dogs. Let’s take a look:

  • Indiana +9.5 vs. Michigan
  • Duke +7 AT Wake Forest
  • Texas +5.5 AT Baylor
  • Northwestern +13.5 vs. Minnesota
  • Colorado +14 vs. Washington

In the segment, SVP is clearly upset at his record but defers to Stanford Steve, who likes UCLA +13.5 against USC.

SVP Pick by Pick Analysis

Indiana +9.5 vs. (#13) Michigan

The B1G battle between a surprising 7-3 Indiana team and #13 Michigan has SVP’s eye, as he picks Indiana with the points. The Hoosiers can score, averaging 33.3 points per game and nearly 450 yards of offense, so Michigan will need to match them to cover.

Duke +7 AT Wake Forest

SVP picks Duke, AGAIN! All time, SVP is 2-1 when picking Duke and they have a tough one on the road at Wake Forest this week. Wake is 7-3, and Duke has struggled on the season with just four wins. Wake has one of the better offenses in the ACC, averaging 449 yards per game, so Duke +7 will be a tough one.

Texas +5.5 AT (#14) Baylor

The “Fighting McConaughey’s” as SVP calls them, are getting only 5.5 points this week, despite playing on the road in a conference game against a one-loss team. Matt Rhule and the Baylor Bears lost a tough one last week to Oklahoma, likely ending their hopes for the college football playoff.

Northwestern +13.5 vs. (#10) Minnesota

Minnesota lost their first game of the season last week to Iowa, and like Baylor, likely ending their chance at the playoff. But P.J. Fleck will have the Gophers ready to go against a Northwestern team that lost seven straight before a 45-6 win over UMass last week.

Colorado +14 vs. Washington

The Washington Huskies had high hopes for this season, but a disappointing 6-4 record has them as only 14 point favorites against Colorado. SVP likes Colorado at home after their 16-13 win against Stanford two weeks ago.

SVP Week 11 College Football Picks

SVP likes nine games this week, picking seven underdogs and two favorites. Let’s take a look:

  • Baylor at TCU – TCU (+2.5)
  • Connecticut at Cincinnati – UCONN (+35)
  • Notre Dame at Duke – Duke (+8)
  • Missouri at Georgia – Missouri (+16.5)
  • Iowa at Wisconsin – Wisconsin (-9.5)
  • Tennessee at Kentucky – Kentucky (-1)
  • Penn St at Minnesota – Minnesota (+6.5)
  • Wake Forest at Virginia Tech – Virginia Tech (+2)
  • Iowa St at Oklahoma – Iowa St (+14.5)

In Week 10, SVP likes seven underdogs, including four home dogs. TCU, Duke, Minnesota, and Virginia Tech are all home dogs.

The only favorites SVP likes are Kentucky at home against Tennessee, Wisconsin at home against the Hawkeyes.

This means that of his nine picks, three of them are road teams. He likes UCONN +35 at Duke, Missouri +16.5 at George, and Iowa State +14.5 at Oklahoma.

SVP Pick by Pick Analysis

  • Baylor at TCU – TCU (+2.5)
    • Baylor is undefeated, having beat up on a subpar schedule to date.
    • With a big game at home next week against Oklahoma, is Baylor overlooking TCU?
  • Connecticut at Cincinnati – UCONN (+35)
    • UCONN football is bad, BUT…
    • SVP is 1-0 in his career picking UCONN, and 35 is a lot of points.
  • Notre Dame at Duke – Duke (+8)
    • SVP opens his Winner$ segment by chanting Duke.
    • Notre Dame continues to be ranked in the top 15, despite losing twice and nearly going down to USC and Virginia Tech, both unranked.
  • Missouri at Georgia – Missouri (+16.5)
    • SVP mentions a post Gator hangover for the “dawgs”. Is Missouri’s talent enough along with 16.5 points?
  • Iowa at Wisconsin – Wisconsin (-9.5)
    • “Bucky will be live”, says SVP. Home B1G game is a big one for both programs
  • Tennessee at Kentucky – Kentucky (-1)
    • We wish this was basketball, but Kentucky at home in essentially a pick ‘em.
  • Penn St at Minnesota – Minnesota (+6.5)
    • One of the two games of the week results in the Gophers +6.5, per SVP.
    • Row the Boat!
  • Wake Forest at Virginia Tech – Virginia Tech (+2)
    • VTech nearly defeated Notre Dame last week, and gets a home game against a lesser talented Wake Forest club.
  • Iowa St at Oklahoma – Iowa St (+14.5)
    • Picking against Oklahoma at home is always bold, but 14.5 is a lot of points.
