Cowherd NFL picks this week

FoxSports’ Colin Cowherd has become quite the polarizing handicapper, for better or worse. In what is called the “Blazing 5” segment on “The Herd”, Cowherd breaks down his favorite games and makes five picks each week of the NFL season. This week is no different, as Cowherd goes over his favorite picks.

After starting out hot, Cowherd has been up and down. Some bad beats, some good wins, some bad picks, and more.

Last week was horrendous for Cowherd, LOSING ALL FIVE PICKS. A great Week 16 put his Blazin’ 5 record at an impressive one for the 2019 NFL season, but losing all five picks in Week 17 crushed him.

Entering Week 17, his record was 42-36-3.

Last Week’s Cowherd’s Blazing 5

  • Miami Dolphins @ New England Patriots (-16.5) – LOSS
  • Los Angeles Chargers (+8.5) @ Kansas City Chiefs – LOSS
  • Cleveland Browns (-3) @ Cincinnati Bengals – LOSS
  • San Francisco 49ers @ Seattle Seahawks (+3.5) – LOSS
  • Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants (+4) – LOSS

Cowherd went 0-5 last week, an abomination week of picks.

Cowherd wasn’t even close on most of them, as the Dolphins beat the Patriots straight up, the Browns lost to the Bengals, and the Eagles won by three scores.

This was a disaster of a week for Cowherd, which is a shame because at 42-36-3 entering Week 17, he had a chance for quite the successful NFL season as a handicapper. Now, he is barely above .500 which means you likely lose to the juice if you used all of his picks.

The Blazin’ 5 has a winning record in 11 of 117 weeks so far this season, and is still above .500…but barely.

NFL Wild Card Weekend Colin Cowherd Blazing 5 Picks

Cowherd’s Blazing 5 Picks are released each week on Friday’s during his show.

With 13-15 games to choose from each week during the regular season, Cowherd usually has a “Blazin’ 5”. With just four NFL games this weekend, he said he’d only bet on one or two of them but did offer his picks for all four NFL playoff games on Wild Card Weekend.

Here is this week’s “Blazin’ 5”, playoff edition.

Colin Cowherd’s “Blazin’ 5” for Wild Card Weekend

  • Buffalo Bills (-2.5) @ Houston Texans
  • Tennessee Titans @ New England Patriots (-4.5)
  • Minnesota Vikings @ New Orleans Saints (-8)
  • Seattle Seahawks @ Philadelphia Eagles (+1.5)

Wild Card Weekend Blazin’ 5 Breakdown

  • Buffalo Bills (+2.5) @ Houston Texans
  • Tennessee Titans @ New England Patriots (-4.5)
  • Minnesota Vikings @ New Orleans Saints (-8)
  • Seattle Seahawks @ Philadelphia Eagles (+1.5)

In Wild Card Weekend, Cowherd likes two favorites and two underdogs.

The favorites he likes are the Patriots -4.5 at home, and the Saints -8 at home.

Cowherd mentions how Belichick destroys average to below average quarterbacks and how has owned Tannehill in the past. The problem is, they just lost to Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Colin mentioned why he can’t take the Vikings as a simple “I can’t trust ’em”. He talked about the Kirk Cousins in big game factor, and how the Saints are far better than people may think.

As for the underdogs, Cowherd likes the Bills to beat the Texans as he sees the Texans as an overrated football team. The Bills truly have one of the better defenses in the NFL, and have had plenty of time to prepare for Houston with a “bye” in Week 17.

In addition, Cowherd likes the Eagles as a home dog to win in overtime, 26-23. Cowherd discusses how there are two teams who have a ton of injuries, but both teams have great quarterbacks and great coaches. It will be a good one to watch.
