If there is anything the last five or so years of politics has taught us, it is that anyone can potentially be the President of the United States. As the 2021 inauguration of Joe Biden is set to take place on January 20th, all the attention in terms of the 2024 election odds is focused on the longshot candidates that could run for POTUS in a few years. In a recent update of the 2024 clection odds, Dave Portnoy, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and many other celebrities have “made” the board with odds to win the 2024 election.
While it remains unlikely that a celebrity wins the 2024 election, the fact that so many are showing on an odds board shows just how crazy the 2024 election could be. Let’s take a look at some popular names that may (or may not) be running when the time times.
Dave Portnoy certainly has become one of the more popular figures in 2020, as Barstool Sports made plenty of headlines. From their deal with Penn National Gaming, to forming Barstool Sportsbook, to most recently the “Barstool Fund” which has raised over $25M for small businesses. Portnoy is certainly not without faults, which would most definitely hurt him in any race for public office. But, as a popular person in American culture today he makes the odds list at +25000 to be the next President of the United States.
There has been quite some buzz surrounding Elon Musk’s name for quite a long time, as he is quite the forward-thinking tech mogul. Elon Musk is famous for SpaceX, Tesla, and other technological companies and recently passed Amazon’s Jeff Bezos as the richest person in the world. Will Musk run for President in 2024, though?
One of the rules has always been that a US citizen is a requisite to run for the presidency, but the rule is actually listed as a natural-born citizen. Elon was born in South Africa, so he does not fill that “box” to be able to run for POTUS under the current rules. That does not mean the rules cannot change, it just seems unlikely. Musk is an American citizen, however.
|Person||Odds to win 2024 Election|
|Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson||+2800|
Some of the names listed on the list to become the POTUS in 2024 seem outlandish, but the same would have gone for the winner of the 2016 election if we asked years ago as well. Will any of these candidates actually run? At this point, it is quite likely. Will they win is another story. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson certainly leads this board of celebrities at +2800, with Tucker Carlson at 33:1. Some interesting names on this list include:
Could Amazon’s Jeff Bezos really run for President? He certainly has the budget, but is this just speculation from the oddsmakers? Seems like it this far out.
