It seemed inevitable at some point, but now it is official. DraftKings and the UFC have agreed to a historic partnership, making DraftKings an official sportsbook and daily fantasy sports partner of the UFC. In addition, this partnership puts DraftKings’ name all over the broadcasts, including the UFC’s new “Fight Clock” set to debut at UFC 259.

The UFC will show DraftKings‘ betting odds on their live broadcasts, furthering engagement for the sports betting platform. Let’s take a deeper look into this monumental partnership between two media giants.

DraftKings Becomes Official Partner of UFC

What a start to a Thursday, as DraftKings and the UFC have agreed to a licensing deal, announced on globenewswire, the first of its kind for the UFC. Even Dana White, UFC President, said it was one of the most important calls he had ever been on. Here’s a direct quote from the UFC President:

“This is a massive deal that will benefit UFC, DraftKings, and most of all the fans. DraftKings is the best at what they do in the betting and daily fantasy space, and unlike other sports, UFC has no off-season. The action will be non-stop for fans of UFC and DraftKings. This is the most important deal we’ve ever done to increase engagement with our fans and reach new ones.”

White was not the only executive thrilled about this deal, as DraftKings’ CEO Jason Robins also commented:

“Combat sports, and UFC in particular, have scaled significantly across both our sportsbook and daily fantasy verticals, evolving from a niche offering to a high-demand category that we believe will only grow further as we innovate.”

Here are some details of the deal between DraftKings and the UFC:

  • DraftKings-branded “Fight Clock”.
  • DraftKings Sportsbook UFC odds displayed on broadcasts.
  • UFC names DraftKings “Official Partner” for Sportsbook and Daily Fantasy.
  • Additional branding including Dana White’s Contender Series, Fight Pass, and more.

Per Aaron Bronsteter on Twitter, the deal is worth $250M for five years, with $100M in cash rights fees.

UFC Debuts Fight Clock with DraftKings Branding

One of the key parts of this deal is DraftKings being the official sponsor of the UFC’s new “Fight Clock”. The Fight Clock will debut at UFC 259, and it is a unique and proprietary clock that shows just how much time is remaining for the current round. Per the news release, the Fight Clock is “The UFC Fight Clock utilizes state-of-the-art technology, including the most flexible high-definition screens in the world, to provide fighters and fans with the most accurate time-keeping system in combat sports.”

This is huge for both the UFC and DraftKings, as the branding will be everywhere on UFC broadcasts, as the clock is set to show fighters, the audience, and the TV viewers just how much time is remaining in each round.

For this weekend’s card, you can fully expect to see DraftKings plastered everywhere, and the “Fight Clock” will make its debut in UFC 259.
