After the Super Bowl, the NFL Draft is the most popular individual event for football bettors. With the draft expanding more and more in terms of available betting markets, the more information becomes available to help bettors wager on the draft. With the 2021 NFL Draft beginning tomorrow, legal sportsbooks have provided some information for a marketing perspective on the draft. We can use that to our advantage as bettors, though.

With the NFL Draft starting tomorrow night, public betting information on the most popular bets for the draft has been shared by various legal sportsbooks. Let’s take a look at the public betting numbers from DraftKings Sportsbook and William Hill to help you make better decisions for your NFL Draft bets.

As you can see, bettors love Florida TE Kyle Pitts to be picked in the top 5. 43% of the betting handle on 26% of the bets means that there is some heavy money on Pitts being drafted in the top 5.

With Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson locked in at one and two, the third overall pick is up in the air but it likely to be a quarterback. This would mean that the fourth and fifth picks to Atlanta and Cincinnati (barring a trade) would have to land Pitts. Both teams could take the monster tight end prospect, and bettors feel that way too with a ton of money on Pitts at +110.

The interesting player here to go top 5 is Ja’Marr Chase at -200, which clearly indicates bettors believe he would be selected by the Bengals at 5.

Similar to the top 5 betting market, there is a ton of money on players to be taken in the top 10. Specifically, Rashawn Slater at -150. With 16% of the handle on only 7% of the bets, that means some heavy money has come in on Slater being picked in the top 10 of the NFL Draft.

The best landing spots in the top 10 for Slater are towards the backside of the top 10 with the Lions, Panthers, and Cowboys at 7, 8, and 10. Another one to keep an eye on is Justin Fields, who could fall past the top 10 if he makes it through the top eight picks.

Popular NFL Draft Props – William Hill

At William Hill Sportsbook, they are taking a large amount of action on NFL Draft props. Here are those that are most popular in terms of total dollars wagered on one side.

The most popular prop at William Hill Sportsbook for the NFL Draft is the third overall pick market. Right now, 53% of the money is on Mac Jones at -400 to be the pick. Given the odds have moved in that direction, it seems like Jones to San Francisco is a given, but nothing is set in stone.

The other most popular props at William Hill include Kyle Pitts over 5.5 in the draft, Ja’Marr Chase under 6.5, DeVonta Smith over 11.5, and the most lopsided of the top five being wide receivers picked in the first round.

For the betting market of receivers being picked in the first round, the number is set at 4.5 at William Hill. There is heavy juice to the over at -400, but there is still 84% of the total money wagered on this prop on the over. Over 4.5 does seem likely, as the following receivers are projected to go in the first round in many mock drafts:

  • Ja’Marr Chase
  • Jaylen Waddle
  • DeVonta Smith
  • Rashod Bateman
  • Elijah Moore

Others that may be picked in the first are Terrace Marshall and even Rondae Moore. Over 4.5 seems like a lock, but William Hill is certainly hoping for the under.
