Thanks to the legal sports betting industry, it is always college football season. DraftKings Sportsbook released some early odds for some notable college football games in the 2020 season, for bettors to take advantage of some early lines during the downtime with most sports currently suspended. With the odds posted, it is a reminder at just how many good college football games are early in the schedule in 2020 and we can take advantage of them and bet now.
Is there an advantage to betting these games now? Absolutely, as earlier action means more time to find an edge. If you are an avid follower of college football, you may be able to take advantage of some soft lines posted months in advance. Let’s take a look at some notable games that have had odds released on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Notre Dame HUGE Favorites in Week 1
Week 1 – August 29th, 12 PM EST
Navy (+14.5) @ Notre Dame (-14.5)
The only game on opening weekend that has odds posted already is the Navy Midshipmen against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Notre Dame is currently 14.5-point favorites at home, and have a massive moneyline price of -910. Notre Dame is poised for a very successful 2020 season with the return of Heisman hopeful quarterback Ian Book, five returning offensive linemen, and plenty of weapons on the offensive side of the football. With talented recruits coming in and most of the defensive starters returning, Notre Dame looks to start off hot against Navy in Week 1.
21-3 as a starter, 6,123 career passing yards, 57 touchdowns, to go along with 1,054 more on the ground and eight rushing scores, should Notre Dame's Ian Book be considered a Heisman candidate heading into the 2020 season? I think he could be… 👀 pic.twitter.com/9Z2a4qF9Vu

Oregon Home Dogs against Ohio State
Week 3 – September 12th, 12 PM EST
Ohio State (-6.5) @ Oregon (+6.5)
It’s not often that a big time program like Oregon is an underdog at home. But it’s also not often that a team like Ohio State travels to Oregon, so that line is justified and some could argue it is far too low. Ohio State is set to be an offensive machine in 2020 with the return of Heisman finalist Justin Fields, a plethora of talent on both sides of the football, and one of the best recruiting classes in the country. Justin Fields is the odds-on favorite to win the 2020 Heisman Trophy, and that alone should bring the Buckeyes to at least a touchdown favorite. Of all the games posted early at DraftKings Sportsbook, this is the one worth betting on most. Oregon lost Justin Herbert and do not have the firepower to compete with Fields and the Ohio State Buckeyes.
New-Look LSU 6.5-Point Favorites Against Texas
Week 3 – September 12th, 12 PM EST
Texas (+6.5) @ LSU (-6.5)
There will be a ton of eyes on the defending champions in 2020, as the LSU Tigers have lost a ton of players and coaches to either the NFL or other programs. Heisman-winner Joe Burrow is headed to the NFL, offensive mastermind Joe Brady is headed to the Carolina Panthers, and nearly a dozen players will likely be drafted to the NFL. The Tigers certainly have their work cut out for them in 2020. Can Myles Brennan repeat Burrow’s success? Can LSU withstanding losing Joe Brady? Time will tell, but they still remain 6.5-point favorites over the Texas Longhorns in Week 3 in the early odds release. LSU won a close one last year 45-38 in Austin.
Georgia 7.5 Point Dogs against Alabama in Week 4
Week 4 – September 19th, 12 PM EST
Georgia (+7.5) @ Alabama (-7.5)
Week 4 is set to be the biggest game in the SEC in 2020, with two absolute powerhouses battling it out in Alabama. Kirby Smart against Nick Saban, two first-year SEC quarterbacks battling it out, and many more storylines to come. Currently, Alabama is favored by more than a touchdown but these lines will certainly change as Week 4 is a ways away. The biggest question for both teams will be how can the new quarterbacks replace Jake Fromm and Tua Tagovailoa, but what may be more important is the battle of the defensive geniuses in Smart against Saban. It’s possible this could be the first of a few meetings between these two teams in 2020, and it will be one to watch.
