The Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James are the clear favorites to win the NBA Finals. After the first round of the playoffs, the Lakers, Clippers, and Bucks were a cut above the rest, but now it’s just the purple and gold out in front.
The Clippers fell to the Denver Nuggets in Game 7 of the second round on Tuesday and completed one of the biggest choke jobs in NBA history. Up 3-1 and in full command of the series, the Clippers blew leads of 15 or more in Games 5 and 6 before laying an egg in Game 7.
Meanwhile, in the Eastern Conference, the Miami Heat throttled the Milwaukee Bucks in five games. Giannis Antetokounmpo is the likely MVP of the regular season, but he was no match for Jimmy Butler and an upstart Heat squad.
That leaves LeBron, Anthony Davis, and the Lakers as the top dog in the final four. Don’t count out Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets, but they are going to be gassed heading into the Western Conference Finals. They became the first team in NBA history to pull off two 3-1 comebacks in a single playoff. On the flip side, the Lakers beat the Portland Trail Blazers and Houston Rockets 4-1 in both series.

Odds To Win NBA Finals
Miami is a slight favorite over the Boston Celtics after winning Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals Tuesday. Game 1 was as close as it gets and a Bam Adebayo block on Jayson Tatum sealed the deal in the final seconds of overtime. As that series goes back and forth, we can expect those two teams to post similar NBA Finals futures odds.
But the Lakers aren’t just favorites to win it all, they have the top two favorites to win MVP of the NBA Finals—LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Jimmy Butler and Jayson Tatum are the next closest guys, but it’s quite obvious that sportsbooks see the Lakers as heavy favorites to bring a championship home to Los Angeles.
