Lakers -1667 to win NBA Finals on DraftKings Sportsbook after Game 1 Win
— Los Angeles Lakers (@Lakers) October 1, 2020
At DraftKings Sportsbook, the Lakers are now -1667 to win the NBA Finals. After opening at -400 before their opening game victory, the odds moved all the way to -1667 for nearly a 400% move on the series line. After watching the Lakers dismantle the Heat after the first five minutes and the Miami injuries, it is hard to imagine the Heat can win four times in six games. In Game 1, LeBron James nearly triple-doubled and Anthony Davis scored 34 points and registered a +23 rating.

Miami Heat lose Goran Dragic, Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler?
The first game of the NBA Finals was not a good one for the Heat. Not only did they lose the contest, but Miami suffered a trio of injuries that certainly hurt their chances. First, Jimmy Butler twisted his ankle badly at the end of the first half, but surprisingly stayed in. He tweaked it again in the fourth quarter, so his status for game two will be important to watch. As for Goran Dragic, it was reported that Dragic has a plantar tear. NBA players have played through that injury, but it will likely limit his effectiveness.

Bam Adebayo left the game due to a shoulder injury, where he could barely hold it up. While it did not look good, the Heat received some positive news after the game. Will Bam be able to play in game two? Time will tell, but either way it does not look promising for Miami.

2020 NBA Finals Odds Movement
Entering the NBA Finals, the Lakers were -400 to win the series on DraftKings Sportsbook. After winning game one, they rose all the way to -1667 to take the series. Yes, the game one winner usually sees the odds rise, but -400 to -1667 after one game is monumental.

Of course, this it not only due to the 18-point victory by the Lakers in the opener, as the Heat were banged up. As mentioned above, Dragic could play through a painful injury, Bam Adebayo’s shoulder x-rays came back negative, and somehow Jimmy Butler was able to continue playing. With the Lakers dominating after the first five minutes of the game, that alone could have caused a large movement in the series odds. But adding the injuries to the equation makes the Lakers a massive -1667 favorite to win the NBA Finals.
