With the NBA’s 2019-20 season shutting down in March, it’s easy to forget who was leading straw polls in various individual awards. As a quick refresher, reigning MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is dominating for a second consecutive season. The Milwaukee Bucks’ superstar is currently the heavy favorite to repeat as MVP and he’s also the favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year after finishing second in voting last season.

With many NBA bettors focused on the latest NBA Playoff odds and NBA Title odds, player’s futures could be a great spot to find value.

Here are the latest odds for NBA individual awards (via NJ Points Bet):

Regular Season MVP

Giannis Antetokounmpo -5000
LeBron James +1200
James Harden +8000
Kawhi Leonard +8000
Luka Doncic +8000

My Best Bets

For some of these categories, there isn’t much that can change in the final eight regular-season games on the docket. Despite LeBron James’ fantastic season (at the ripe age of 35, no less), he just can’t compare to the dominance of Antetokounmpo this season.

It would be a shame to see Ja Morant’s fabulous rookie season with the Memphis Grizzlies fall to the wayside of the Zion Williamson hype, but it looks like Morant is comfortably ahead in the race for Rookie of the Year.

File Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse under the same category as the Greek Freak. Nurse’s Raptors lost Kawhi Leonard in the offseason and dealt with a slew of injuries to key guys throughout the season. Still, Toronto was able to cruise to the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference.

However, if Angelenos really want to make a worthwhile bet, throwing some money down on Anthony Davis (+175) to win Defensive Player of the Year is a great idea. Davis is currently second in the NBA with 2.4 blocks per game, but his impact on the court wasn’t limited to what we see in the box score.

The Most Improved and Sixth Man awards seem to favor Bam Adebayo (-150) and Dennis Schroder (-200), respectively, but there are a few underdogs who still have time to make up ground in the NBA’s 2020 restart.
