And just like that, the Miami Heat are climbing back into the NBA Finals. A dominant performance by Jimmy Butler in Game 3 is putting Miami back into the mix although it’s worth noting that the Lakers are still heavy favorites.
It’s no surprise that the Lakers are still the favorites. LeBron James and Anthony Davis didn’t have the best games of their career in Game 3, but we all know what those two are capable of doing.
Lakers – Heat Game 4 Odds[metabet_core_game_tile query=”nba/lakers” site_id=”actionrush”]
The Lakers are -7.5 on the spread which is a slight change from earlier in the series when Los Angeles was favored by as much as 10 points. The Lakers are also -303 on the moneyline which implies a 75% chance to win. There is obviously no crowd in the bubble so home-court advantage does not matter here.
The over-under is set to 219.5 right now. Through the first three games of the series, the total points have hit 214, 238, and 219. If the Heat continue to score in bunches, the over is looking good. We expect Lebron James and Anthony Davis to bounce back in Game 4.
What happens in Game 4 could depend on injuries. Miami was able to overcome the absences of Goran Dragic and Bam Adebayo in Game 3, but winning the NBA Finals without those two will be a tall task. Although there was hope that Adebayo could return in Game 3.

Jimmy Butler stepped up in a big way in Game 3 though. He posted a 40-point triple-double and was the most dominant player on the court from start to finish. For all the criticism Butler has taken over the years, he’s showing out in his first NBA Finals appearance in a big way. Through three games, Butler is averaging 29.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 10.3 assists per game.
Obviously, if Miami comes back to win the series, Butler is the likely choice for Finals MVP. He’s at +1000 to win Finals MVP right now. LeBron James (-225) and Anthony Davis (+190) are the favorites.
