The 2021 NFL Draft should be renamed the “Trevor Lawrence Sweepstakes.” The Clemson quarterback and Heisman Trophy favorite is the likely No. 1 pick if he chooses to leave college early and if he does, the New York Jets are the overwhelming favorite to land Lawrence, even though Week 7 hasn’t even started yet.
As the only winless team left in the NFL, the Jets have the inside track at the first-overall pick in the draft. Although there are nine teams with one win, the Jets are the heavy favorites at -170 to finish last.
Of the other teams near the top of the odds to land the No. 1 pick, there are winnable games on the schedule. The New York Giants and Washington Football Team play in the worst division in football. There will be opportunities for both of those teams to steal a win against another NFC East opponent.
When it comes to the Jacksonville Jaguars, their next two opponents — the Chargers and Texans — have a combined two wins on the season. And with all this said, there’s a legitimate chance the Jets finish the season 0-16 and become the third team in NFL history to do so.
Here’s how the 2021 NFL Draft odds stack up on FanDuel Sportsbook.
Odds To Have Worst NFL Record

---|---|---|

Jacksonville Jaguars | 1-5 | +460 |
New York Giants | 1-5 | +700 |
Washington Football Team | 1-5 | +700 |
Cincinnati Bengals | 1-4-1 | +1800 |
Atlanta Falcons | 1-5 | +2500 |
Los Angeles Chargers | 1-4 | +4000 |
Houston Texans | 1-5 | +5000 |
Denver Broncos | 2-3 | +6500 |
How Bad Are The Jets Right Now?
Bad. Really bad. Head coach Adam Gase is supposed to be an offensive guru, but he consistently puts out some of the worst offenses in football. Even dating back to his days with the Miami Dolphins, Gase’s offenses have been putrid.

Things aren’t expected to get any better in New York over the next few weeks. They are facing the Buffalo Bills (4-2) in Week 7, the Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) in Week 8, and the New England Patriots (2-3) in Week 9. In all likelihood, the Jets are going to go into the bye week with a record of 0-9.
With Gase seemingly safe in his position for the foreseeable future, the Jets are a very safe pick to finish with the worst record in football. Hammer that bet before the Jets become even bigger favorites.
