Notre Dame and Louisville face off in an ACC battle on Saturday afternoon in Notre Dame, Indiana. The Fighting Irish are entering the game red hot, having begun the year 3-0 after their most recent 42-26 victory over Florida State on Saturday night. Louisville, on the other hand, has struggled. After initially finding themselves in the AP Top 25, the Cardinals are now unranked and have lost each of their last three games. Louisville is currently 1-3 and at the bottom of the conference, with its only win coming in the season-opening matchup with Western Kentucky.

Considering the struggles in and around Louisville’s program thus far in the 2020 college football season, expect Notre Dame to notch an easy victory and improve to 4-0.

Notre Dame – Louisville Betting Line 2020

DraftKings Sportsbook has Notre Dame coming away with the win while giving Louisville 17 points, making this spread a significantly wide margin. It’s a reasonable spread though, given how successful the Irish have been in comparison to Louisville’s on-field woes. Oddsmakers also heavily favor Notre Dame on the moneyline, with the Irish at -770 and Louisville at +500.

The total is set at 64.0, and I think this may actually be a tad bit high of a mark. While Notre Dame is averaging 40.3 points per game, they’re allowing just 13.0 per game. Expect Louisville to undergo a difficult task putting up a noteworthy number of points, which could potentially lead to the under hitting.

Game Preview & Betting Angles

Notre Dame’s offense really came together in Saturday night’s win over Florida State. Quarterback Ian Book threw for 201 yards on 16-of-25 passing with a pair of touchdowns. He additionally rushed for 58 yards on nine carries with one score on the ground. The Irish’s run game was the real reason for the offensive’s overall success though. Running back Kyren Williams rushed for 185 yards on 19 carries with two touchdowns while running back Chris Tyree racked up 103 yards on 11 carries with one score.

Williams now has 359 total rushing yards this season to go with four rushing touchdowns, while Book has thrown for 608 yards and three scores.

Luckily for the Irish, the Cardinals are nowhere near as talented nor have exceeded any sort of expectations thus far in the 2020 season. Louisville is coming off a disappointing 46-27 loss at the hands of Georgia Tech. Quarterback Malik Cunningham threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns on 19-of-33 passing in the defeat, while Louisville received great production out of running back Javian Hawkins, who rushed for 155 yards on 26 carries (six yards per carry).

It was the struggling Cardinals secondary that was a significant contributor to the loss. The unit allowed Georgia Tech quarterback Jeff Sims to throw for 249 yards on just 11-of-21 passing for a pair of touchdowns.

Judging by how Louisville’s defensive backfield fared last week, expect Notre Dame to attack the Cardinals through the air, and the Irish’s success in doing so should ultimately play a pivotal role in them not only winning, but covering the spread as well.
