With sports betting taking over the casino and gambling realm, the state of New York has also joined in by recently legalizing sports betting in four casinos. However, the launch and all the specifics surrounding when it will actually come into play are unknown.
However, this did not stop Empire Resorts. Earlier this week, Empire announced what they are calling a “strategic alliance” with an ancillary property of bet365 to help with their sports and online gambling for the next 20 years.
For those unaware, Bet365 is a tycoon in Europe, and is perhaps the world’s biggest online sports betting operation.
BET365 ENTERS USA SPORTS BETTING
With sports betting becoming a big deal this year, Bet365 is trying to break in with the United States, already having a deal with Hard Rock Atlantic City, which happened in July. In the deal, Bet365, will power the brick-and-mortar facility as well as mobile platforms, too.
Manny Pearlman, Executive Chairman of Empire, had this to say:
“Bet365’s global expertise in effectively developing and executing world-class sportsbooks strongly complements Empire’s leadership in commercial casino operations in New York. This collaboration, which will enable Resorts World Catskills to be a leading destination for sports wagering in New York State, highlights our commitment to the continued growth of Resorts World Catskills, as well as our dedication to working with the best, most innovative pioneers in the industry to provide world-class gaming options.”
The two companies will split the profits 50/50 and Bet365 is also investing $50 million.
NY SPORTS BETTING LAUNCH DATE?
With all that said, remember, the New York launch of sports betting is up in the air. Sports betting was legalized in New York back in 2013 and even with the Supreme Court ruling, we still don’t have active betting in the Empire State.
When sports betting is finally up and going in New York, the economy of that state is going to skyrocket even further and perhaps be the highest revenue state for sports betting in the country.
