It is looking like 2019 will be the year that NY Sports Betting joins the explosion of regulated wagering on sports in the United States. In a significant move that will help reduce hurdles for NY sportsbooks, the Oneida Indian Nation has struck a deal with Caesars Entertainment.
“The Lounge with Caesars Sports” is set to open this year, pending a review by a federal agency and the issuance of state gaming regulations, said the Oneida Indian Nation.
The deal is going to bring sports betting to:
1. Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, NY
2. Yellow Brick Road Casino in Chittenango
3. Point Place Casino in Bridgeport

“When it comes to sports betting, Caesars is in a class of its own,” said Ray Halbritter, Oneida nation representative, in a statement. “We are pleased to be joining forces with this world-renowned gaming leader. Like Oneida Nation Enterprises, Caesars has built its business on exceptional service, as well as a dedication to constant innovation. These shared values create the perfect synergy for a meaningful long-term partnership.”
Stiff Competition for Caesars
Caesars is also quite the heavy hitter, with 30 casinos throughout the United States including the explosion of NJ Sportsbooks in the neighboring state. Caesars has not done well in New Jersey overall with DraftKings,BetStars, William Hill, SugarHouse and FanDuel in the picture. Per the latest NJ sports betting revenue report, Bally’s Wild Wild West brought in nearly $180,000, but Harrah lost close to $125,000. A new $300 free bet with Caesars Bonus Code, should attract many new players in NJ.
With all of this said, sports betting technically isn’t legal yet NY, with the exception of four casinos after a law that was passed in 2013 that was pending PASPA being overturned, which it was in early 2018. However, when it comes to online wagering, this is a totally different animal. One encouraging sign, though, is that incoming Senate Racing, Gaming & Wagering Committee Chair Joe Addabbo has said that comprehensive regulations could be adopted into the budget this year. Also, the New York State constitution also has online gambling banned, which could force a referendum that may have to wait until 2020.
