NBA Title Odds 2021: Nets Pass Lakers as NBA Finals Favorite
The NBA Finals in 2021 will be quite the interesting one, as there may be some or no fans in the second season of the NBA under the new rules during the pandemic. With that said, sports betting is at its forefront and there are a ton of NBA futures to wager on. Betting on the Finals is the most popular, of course.
Let’s take a look at the market for the 2021 NBA Finals odds, movement, news and more.
Latest 2021 NBA Finals Title Odds – Nets Lead
The NBA Finals odds are updated from a consensus, and is updated below. Will the Los Angeles Lakers win two in a row? In December, their odds increased to +250 on DraftKings Sportsbook. Once the season began, the Lakers moved to +230, where it has remained into January, before rising to +250 after James Harden was traded to Brooklyn. The Nets’ odds rose to +300, making them a big contender for the NBA Finals. Brooklyn started off 8-4 with Harden, but lost some “iffy” games which dropped odds to +385.
The Nets hit their stride in mid-February, and the odds rose to +350. The Lakers’ went to +260 as well.
As March began after the All Star break, the Lakers and Nets at +250 and +300 are the top two and are alone at the top. Those odds remained even after LeBron’s injury, as the Lakers will be playing for a few weeks without him and Davis.
After the Lakers acquired Andre Drummond, the Nets became favorited at +260 with the Lakers falling to +290. Then, Brooklyn rose to +220 with LA falling again.

Nets Surpass Lakers as NBA Title Favorite
After the Andre Drummond to LA move but with Aldridge to Brooklyn, the Nets became the favorite to win the NBA Finals.
The Nets are now the favorites to win the NBA Finals, as they passed LA at +260 to +290 on DraftKings. With the Lakers signing Andre Drummond, the Nets added LaMarcus Aldridge to their stable of talent. This pushed the odds in the Nets’ favor.
Post All Star Break, are Jazz and Sixers Value Bets?
After the NBA All Star break, the NBA Finals odds showed some small movement. The Lakers and Nets lead the charts, but there are some value picks worth looking at as the second half of the NBA season begins. We took a look at where the value may be post All Star break, here.

— Action Rush (@ActionRushBets) March 9, 2021
Are the Jazz worth betting on? What about the Sixers? Both teams are the number one seed in their conference, but have odds at +800 or worse. That is value in itself, as the odds will likely drop as the playoffs start.
Brooklyn Nets NBA Finals Odds increase to +300 after Harden trade
Chef Harden is already cookin’ in a new city. His first game resulted in a triple double for the Nets, as a sign of things to come in Brooklyn. The Nets’ odds rose sharply to +300, and they trail only the Lakers in terms of odds to win the NBA Finals. Once Kyrie Irving returns, it will be interesting to see how they play together. Without a doubt though, the Nets have the most talented team in the East.

The Lakers odds to win to the 2021 NBA Finals are +275. The NBA season begins on Tuesday before Christmas, and the Lakers are favored to repeat.
Warriors odds plummet after Klay Thompson injury
— Warriors on NBCS (@NBCSWarriors) November 19, 2020
The Warriors started at +600 to win the NBA Finals, but their odds have plummeted to +3000 after Klay’s injury. Golden State still has a ton of talent, but will have to do it without one of the best shooters this league has ever seen. At +3000, there is some value as the Warriors still should be set to make the playoffs. Can they do it without Klay? Time will tell.

Lakers Still Heavily Favored after Heat Win Game 3
— Action Rush (@ActionRushBets) October 5, 2020
Despite Jimmy Butler’s massive performance and “you’re in trouble” quotes, the Los Angeles Lakers are still heavily favored to win the NBA Finals at DraftKings Sportsbook. Game 4 will be on Tuesday, October 6th and the Lakers open up as 7.5-point favorites. Can Miami make a comeback with Bam Adebayo and others getting healthier? Time will tell.
Lakers Are -400 Favorites Over The Heat
LeBron James is back in the NBA Finals, and his Lakers are -400 to win the series, per DraftKings Sportsbook.

2020 NBA Finals Prediction: Lakers in 6
While this may be the “easiest” path for LeBron James to a ring in his career, the Miami Heat are nothing to scoff at. Miami is a complete team with Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and some young budding stars in Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson and others. Pair that with veteran leadership and the Heat are a complete NBA playoff team. With that said, the Lakers have LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the two best players on the floor at all times. The star power is just too much for Miami, Lakers in six games.

Pre-Season Resume Predictions To Win 2020 NBA Title
On Thursday, June 4, the NBA Board of Governors voted to approve the plan to resume the 2019-2020 season. With all games taking place at Disney World in Orlando, the season will resume with 22 teams in attendance and 16 advancing to the playoffs. The games will begin with each team playing eight games to determine their playoff seeding and once that’s concluded, it will go into the playoffs. Over on the FanDuel Sportsbook, odds for the winner of the NBA title have been released and we’ll look at three options to consider when placing your bets.
Favorite: Milwaukee Bucks (+240) odds to win NBA Title
The Bucks are the current favorites and before the season screeched to a halt, had the best record in the league at 53-12 with a .815 winning percentage. When the season stopped, the Bucks were currently riding a three-game losing streak and were 6-4 in their last 10. The Lakers were quickly catching up to them at the time and carry the second-best odds at +260. The Lakers were 8-2 in in their last 10 before the stoppage, giving them a 49-14 record with a .778 winning percentage.
Both teams elite defense has helped pave the way for the stellar seasons they were putting together and prior to the break both teams were third and sixth in points allowed per game. The Lakers were third, allowing 107 per game and the Bucks were close behind, ranked sixth with 107.4. The Bucks also boasted the high point differential in the league at 11.7. They were the only team in the league with this figure in double-digits, as, of course, the Lakers were second at 7.4.
The biggest flaw one could point out for the Bucks, however, is if a team is able to stop Giannis Antetokounmpo, a path to victory could be had. With that in mind though, the Bucks have a massive advantage to come out of the East and make it into the Finals. The Bucks are currently (-175) to win the Eastern Conference with the Celtics, potentially being a strong value play, at (+700). The Celtics do have one of the best defenses in the league and the 106.8 points allowed per game is the second-lowest in the league aside from the Raptors at 106.5.
Value Pick: Philadelphia 76ers (+2700) odds to win NBA Title
If the new format can help benefit anyone amongst these teams, the Sixers could be one of them. It’s been a train wreck on the road for them this season, going 10-24 when away from the Wells Fargo Center, where they went 29-2. While this isn’t exactly home court, the lack of travel will certainly be beneficial for a team that simply could not figure it out on the road.
As the current seeding stands, the Sixers are two games behind the Heat and 4.5 being the Celtics for third. If they’re able to do well in the eight games prior to the playoffs, they could improve their seeding and draw a more desirable matchup. The health of the team is also a factor as Ben Simmons has been able to get back to full health and Joel Embiid will be fresh as well. Coach Brett Brown has said that Simmons, who is recovering from a lower back nerve impingement, “has been outstanding” during his rehab.
The Sixers could opt to go with a new looking starting lineup as well, with Shake Milton in the mix. According to both reports, the speculation is that Milton would join Simmons, Embiid, Josh Richardson and Tobias Harris. This is a rotation that has yet to play together but Milton’s effectiveness off the bench has positioned him to be the fifth starter. When Milton has started, he’s averaging 14.1 points, 3.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds in 16 games.
If you wanted to double down, the Sixers are +900 to come out of the East, which is currently tied with the Heat as the fourth-best. For reference, we have a massive gap in odds after the Sixers with the Pacers next up at (+2900).
Longshot Pick: New Orleans Pelicans (+12000) odds to win NBA Title
The Pelicans are one of the teams on the outside looking in to make it into the playoff tournament. They were only 3.5 games out of the eighth seed, which is currently held by the Grizzlies in the Western Conference. The Pelicans actually have better odds than the Grizzlies, who are currently (+21000) on the FanDuel Sportsbook. Amongst the Western Conference teams, the Pelicans were third in scoring with 116.2 PPG, which was tied with the Clippers and only being the Mavericks and Rockets. Of course, the Pelicans struggle on defense and the 117 points allowed were the second-most, trailing only the Timberwolves.
Zion Williamson is, as you’d expect, the biggest X-Factor here for the Pelicans. Through 19 games, Williamson averaged 29.7 minutes, 23.6 points 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. Of those 19 games, Williamson at least 20 points in 14 of them. Will he be able to jump back into that type of rhythm off the jump? Or will the prolonged layoff be detrimental? If anything, one would assume the 19-year-old should be able to jump right into the mix of things.
While it seems unlikely the Pelicans could somehow shock us all and take down the Finals, as the current odds for them to win the Western Conference are (+6500), the young roster they possess does give some intrigue. Unlike the Eastern Conference, the Western Conference have much tighter odds and potential matchups whereas the Eastern is essentially locked down by the Bucks. I’m never against throwing some small amount down on long shot as the ROI would be incredible but this certainly is a hard one to justify. Of the long shots through, the Pelicans certainly do have the appeal.
Los Angeles Lakers 2020 NBA Title Odds
— FanDuel (@FanDuel) March 28, 2020
Currently, the Lakers are the co-favorites with +250 odds to win the NBA Finals on DraftKings Sportsbook, but are second to the Bucks on FanDuel. The Lakers are +270 to win the NBA Finals on FanDuel Sportsbook, which makes them the better bet there as you should always shop for odds. With Anthony Davis and LeBron James on the roster with some veterans and good defense, the sky is the limit for the 2020 Lakers.
Los Angeles Clippers 2020 NBA Title Odds
If the Clippers win the finals with zero fans in attendance it would be so on brand. https://t.co/j2NuRTJ4Nr
— Melissa Stetten (@MelissaStetten) March 11, 2020
The Clippers are +340 at FanDuel Sportsbook to win the NBA Finals, compared to +333 at DraftKings Sportsbook. Many NBA analysts have the Clippers as their pick as they coast through the regular season by resting Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. The Clippers “small ball” lineup is lethal, and they present the deepest team in the NBA with a tandem of NBA stars. While the Clippers are not the favorite, they likely should be. There is value in this team’s futures market. While the Clippers have been seen as the “other” team in LA, those times could change.
Milwaukee Bucks 2020 NBA Title Odds
Milwaukee for sure. It's so hard for a small market team to be there as a title contender and the Bucks were right there.
After that it's probably the Clippers. After decades of being the little brother, they had a chance to finally get to The Finals.

Both DraftKings and FanDuel Sportsbook have the Bucks as either favorites or co-favorites to win the NBA Finals, likely due to a much easier road in the Eastern Conference playoffs. The Bucks are sole favorites on FanDuel Sportsbook at +240, and are +250 on DraftKings Sportsbook. With Giannis Antetokounmpo and the deepest roster in the Eastern Conference, the Bucks are certainly favored to make it to the Finals. Can they win it? Time will tell.

NBA Finals odds movement has shown a vast array of movements since before the season started. Take a look at some of these numbers. The Golden State Warriors started at +200 last May, and dropped to +1200 before the season started. With how the NBA playoffs have progressed, the Miami Heat’s odds have rocketed as you can see.

Top 3 NBA Finals Upsets
2016 NBA Finals – LeBron James and Kyrie Irving defeat Golden State Warriors
The 2016 NBA Finals was the one that cemented LeBron James’ “legacy”, as he defeated the heavily favored Golden State Warriors in seven games to bring a championship to Cleveland. The Warriors were up 3-1, but the Cavaliers won three straight games including a close 93-89 victory in game 7. The Cavs were huge underdogs, even larger when the Warriors were up 3-1. Underdogs prevail sometimes, though.
2011 NBA Finals – Dallas Mavericks Ruin Miami Heat’s Plans
2011 is another NBA Finals that included LeBron James, but the James-led Heat lost in six games to Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks. This was the first season of the “new” Miami Heat after LeBron James teamed up with Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade in Miami, where they promised many championships.
2004 NBA Finals – Pistons Take Down Mighty Lakers
The 2004 Los Angeles Lakers were stacked. From Kobe Bryant to Shaquille O’Neal to an older Gary Parton and Karl Malone, the Lakers were absolutely favored to win the 2004 NBA Finals against a Pistons team led by no superstars, but a very solid core of Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, Rasheed Wallace, and Ben Wallace. Somehow, the Pistons won in five games, and Karl Malone retired without a ring.
