After a terrific finish to the 2020-2021 NBA season with the Milwaukee Bucks winning the NBA Finals, the odds have turned to next year for NBA bettors. Legal sportsbooks have already released odds to win the 2022 NBA Finals, and the usual suspects are the top. With that said, some of these odds may surprise you.

Let’s take a look at the opening odds for the 2022 NBA Finals, a look at the Nets and Lakers odds, and more.

2022 NBA Title Opening Odds

The most popular NBA betting market in the offseason is without a doubt which team will win the following NBA Championship. After the Bucks defeated the Suns in six games, the odds were released for next year’s NBA Title, courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook. Here’s a look at the opening odds.

Team Odds to win 2022 NBA Finals
Brooklyn Nets +210
Los Angeles Lakers +450
Milwaukee Bucks +800
Golden State Warriors +1200
Phoenix Suns +1300
Utah Jazz +1400
Philadelphia 76ers +1600
Los Angeles Clippers +2000
Denver Nuggets +2000
Dallas Mavericks +2800
Atlanta Hawks +3500
Miami Heat +3500
Boston Celtics +5000
Portland Trail Blazers +5000
Toronto Raptors +8000
New Orleans Pelicans +8000
Memphis Grizzlies +10000
New York Knicks +10000
Indiana Pacers +10000
Chicago Bulls +10000
Charlotte Hornets +10000
Washington Wizards +15000
Minnesota Timberwolves +25000
San Antonio Spurs +25000
Sacramento Kings +25000
Detroit Pistons +50000
Cleveland Cavaliers +50000
Houston Rockets +50000
Oklahoma City Thunder +50000
Orlando Magic +50000

To no one’s surprise, the Brooklyn Nets open as the favorite at +210 as they will return their big three in Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving. Assuming all three players stay healthy, the Nets will likely be the favorite throughout the entire year. The 2021 NBA Finals champs in the Milwaukee Bucks are third in terms of odds to win at +800. It is a big offseason for the Bucks, as the key pieces are returning but some role players may be switching teams.

One team to keep an eye on is the Golden State Warriors, whose odds are quite high at +1200 to win. With Klay Thompson returning with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green with some valuable pieces around them, could the Warriors make a run?

Brooklyn Nets NBA Title Odds

The Brooklyn Nets’ opening odds were released after the end of the NBA Finals, and they are +210 to win in 2022.

Team Odds to win 2022 NBA Finals
Brooklyn Nets +210

There was no issue in Brooklyn besides the injury bug, which is the main “blame” for why the Nets did not win a title. With that said, if the Nets are healthy for the playoffs in 2022, they could certainly pull away with a championship, and it may be “easy”. The Nets took the Bucks to the final minute in their series, and that was without any of the three players being fully healthy. Just take a look at how they performed with the big three all on the floor together.

Lakers NBA Title Odds 2022

To no one’s surprise, the Lakers opened as the top team in the Western Conference in terms of NBA Finals odds on DraftKings. The Lakers need some help though, as LeBron James and Anthony Davis may not be enough to overcome the Nets should they reach the Finals, but even the Nuggets, Clippers, or Jazz in the Western Conference.

Team Odds to win 2022 NBA Finals
Los Angeles Lakers +450

While the Lakers are +450, they will need to have a great offseason in order to fully improve their odds to win in 2022. Lakers Nation goes over some top trade targets below, but Lakers fans have made it clear they want a third star to add to the mix. Is that possible given the way the roster is constructed? Time will tell.

Way Too Early Picks….

While it is very early, there is always some value to be had when betting on the NBA. Here are some of our picks for this futures market.

  • Warriors (+1200)
  • Clippers (+2000)
  • Sixers (+1600)

While the Nets are the favorite, there is not much value on a +210 futures ticket. The Warriors, Clippers, and Sixers are all set to have some moves during the NBA offseason that could increase their NBA Finals odds, which makes them values at their current prices.
