Game Breakdown

For as long as Oklahoma State is in the NCAA Tournament, plenty of eyeballs will be on Cade Cunningham. The freshman point guard was named the Big 12 Player of the Year, a consensus All-American, and he’s likely going to be the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft this summer. He’s capable of putting the Cowboys on his back for a long run in March Madness.

When Oklahoma State needs a bucket, they look to Cunningham, but he’s hardly the only capable scorer on this team. Four different guys average 9.2 points or more to supplement Cunningham’s 20 points per game. In fact Avery Anderson III led Oklahoma State in their win over Liberty with 21 points and four steals.

Don’t be fooled by Oregon State’s seed. They can beat anybody in the country. The Beavers were on their way to missing the NCAA Tournament for a fifth consecutive season, but they went on a miraculous run in the Pac-12 Tournament. They beat three tournament teams to sneak into the Big Dance.

At that point, Tennessee was just in the way. Oregon State jumped on the Volunteers early to take complete control of the game. Tennessee had no answer for the balanced Beavers approach. Four different guys scored in double figures in the first round win and that kind of balanced offensive attack has become the norm for Oregon State.
