Already equipped with the largest brick-and-mortar casino in the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania, Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, Inc., also known as Parx Casino, has struck a deal with GAN to offer sports betting in Pennsylvania for both the retail and online PA Sportsbooks.
The concept surrounding the deal is expected to be in place and ready to go by the end of 2018. The two companies had an existing deal dating back to 2015 in which Parx and GAN were partnered for online gambling. Between July 12 and 16, Parx filed applications to both operate online table games, slots and poker—which cost $10 million—and another with the intent to launch Internet gaming online with GAN as their enterprise software provider. Following the execution of this extension and amendment, GAN now offers clients a Platform equipped with multiple options for integrated Sports betting to be launched seamlessly alongside GAN’s market-leading Internet casino product. We welcome the opportunity to deliver Sports betting in the retail channel, as well as online, through GAN’s unique Platform containing patented technology,” said Jeff Berman, Chief Commercial Officer of GAN. With this, Parx customers will be able to use one wallet for both their online casino and online sports betting platform. Parx recently relocated its poker room, going from 81 tables to just 48 while accommodating eight restaurants.
According to Businesswire.com, Pennsylvania is expected to generate in excess of $100 million in its first 12 months and Internet sports gambling is expected to do around $189 in the same period. Being the largest casino in Pennsylvania, Parx generated $570 million from slot machines and table-top games through the fiscal year, which ended on June 30. The $570 million represents 18 percent of Pennsylvania’s $3.2 billion in the gaming market.
Parx can now turn its attention to the sports betting arena with the recent partnership with GAN.“By leveraging GAN’s Platform, Parx Casino will have the opportunity to launch retail and online Regulated Sports betting together with online Gaming in Pennsylvania later this year, subject to the regulatory approval of the PGCB,” said John Dixon, CTO of Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment, Inc.
While Parx may have sports betting and the retail space for gambling and poker in place, they’re still missing one thing: Being the leader in online poker. However, with this new deal with GAN, Parx will make immensely more money. However, in this line of work, it’s important to be the leader in as many facets as possible. Parx still recognizes the importance and the value of an online poker space and as Eric Raskin of Pennbets.com put it, “but at least for now, during this calm before the storm period, it’s doing and saying the right things.”
