The NFL season continues to rumble forward after another entertaining finish in Eagles vs. Giants on Thursday Night Football, and college football will see the return of the Big Ten in Week 8. ESPN’s SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt airs each and every week where SVP recaps Thursday Night Football in the NFL, and previews the weekend of CFB and NFL action. In his “Winner$” section, SVP gives his favorite plays for both CFB and NFL and we recap his picks and history at ActionRush each Friday.

Admittedly, SVP is not a professional handicapper but he is quite the entertaining personality and has run hot at times with his picks. His “Bad Beats” and “Winner$” segments have been among the most popular on ESPN, and for good reason. Here is a look at his Week 8 CFB picks, Week 7 NFL picks, history, and more.

Last week was another good one overall for SVP, going 3-2 in CFB and 1-1 in NFL for a total record of 4-3. This week, he has seven total picks split amongst the NFL and CFB. On the season combined, SVP is 17-16.

SVP College Football Picks – Week 8

SVP likes six CFB games in this week’s “Winner$” section, including a few Big Ten games, and he even takes a favorite! Here is who Van Pelt likes for Week 8 in college football, as the Big Ten returns to play.

Wake Forest +9 vs. Virginia Tech

SVP starts off his Week 8 CFB picks with Wake Forest, taking them +9 against VT. Why? SVP is 2-2 all time picking Wake Forest.

Indiana +9 vs. Penn State

“No clue about any of these Big Ten teams, but the Hoosiers are better than people think…I think”. This is why SVP likes IU in Week 8.

Pittsburgh +10 vs. Notre Dame

SVP likes Pitt +10 in this all time rivalry, picking it as a “blind choice”. SVP is 3-3 picking Pittsburgh.

Virginia +12.5 vs. Miami

UVA has lost each of the last three games by at least two scores, but SVP wants to take UVA against Miami anyway.

Louisville -5 vs. Florida State

SVP is picking a favorite here, laying five points against FSU…who SVP picked last week.

Texas State +28.5 vs. BYU

“We are ride or die, #EatEmUp” says SVP. 28.5 is a lot of points, but SVP likes them against an impressive BYU team.

Each and every week, SVP gives out his favorite NFL picks after his CFB selections. This week, Van Pelt likes a just one NFL games as Week 7 action continues in the NFL. One pick for the NFL is a low number for SVP, but his record is much better in CFB so he went with six of those this week.

Arizona Cardinals +3.5 vs. Seattle Seahawks

SVP’s seventh pick of the segment is his only NFL pick, as SVP likes the Arizona Cardinals +3.5 vs. the Seahawks. SVP loves picking against Seattle it seems, will it pay off in Week 7?
