Week 5 of the NFL season is underway after the Chicago Bears edged out the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football. Here’s how the rest of the week looks with betting odds, lines, splits, and everything in between.

For the most part in Week 5, bettors love the favorites. In every game except three, most of the handle is on the favorite to cover the spread line. The Carolina Panthers (+1.5), Miami Dolphins (+9), and Cleveland Browns (+2) are the only underdogs who are bringing in a majority of the spread line handle.

The Browns and Panthers are also accounting for most of the total handle on the moneyline. However, Miami is only bringing in 34% of the total handle on the moneyline against the San Francisco 49ers. This makes sense considering the fact that the Dolphins are two-score underdogs on the road. Seeing them cover against a badly beat-up 49ers squad wouldn’t be shocking, but winning outright seems like a stretch.

Betting Public Continues To Back “Overs”

And this should come as no surprise at all, but once again the public loves the overs. The Dolphins-49ers and Colts-Browns games are split 50-50 between under and over money. Eagles-Steelers only has 51% of the total handle on the over as well. But outside of those three games, the money is heavy on the overs.

This makes sense. Offense continues to thrive in this year’s NFL and over bettors have been rewarded early in the season. Plus, it’s always more fun to root for high-scoring games.
