Travis Etienne underwent a great career as the Clemson Tigers running back, having possessed a knack for the end zone en route to scoring 78 total touchdowns. Not to mention, his 7.2 yards per carry rate throughout his college days is additionally impressive and another reason why some believe he’s a first-round prospect.

It’s still unconfirmed whether he’ll be off the board in the opening round or not — the draft’s commencement isn’t until Thursday, April 29. But regardless, he could be the first running back taken, at least according to DraftKings Sportsbooks‘ latest NFL Draft odds.

1st RB To Be Drafted Odds:

Travis Etienne (Clemson):                -200
Najee Harris (Alabama):                    +125
Javonte Williams (North Carolina):  +700
Michael Carter (North Carolina):      +3300
Kenneth Gainwell (Memphis):          +4000
Trey Sermon (Ohio State):                +4000
Chuba Hubbard (Oklahoma State):  +5000

Etienne comes in at -200, and if he goes late in the first round, there’s a chance the Jets could pick him up at No. 23 overall. While it may draft quarterback Zach Wilson at No. 2, New York still needs help at the offensive skill player positions given it finished last in both total yards and points last season. Etienne could be a good complement to La’Mical Perine and was actually the Jets’ late first-round pick in a recent mock from ESPN’s Todd McShay.

Next on the list is Najee Harris at +125, and some believe he could be chosen before Etienne. Harris underwent a great National Championship-winning season at Alabama this past year, earning first-team All-SEC and unanimous All-American honors.

Oklahoma State’s Chuba Hubbard is a longshot to be chosen as the top running back, and per The Draft Network, he’s actually the 12th-ranked running back and 175th-ranked overall prospect. His averages were way down in 2020 in comparison to the year prior. In 2019, Hubbard averaged 6.4 yards per carry and 161.1 rushing yards per game. However, the following year, he averaged just 4.7 yards per carry and 89.3 rushing yards per game.

If Hubbard was to somehow miraculously climb the prospect ranks, you’d get an absurd bang for your buck if you were to bet on him now. Don’t expect that to be the case though.
