US Open Public Betting Splits 2021

Thanks to our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook, here is a look at the public betting splits for this week’s US Open.

As you can see, the most popular players for the public to wager on this week are Brooks Koepka (+1900), Phil Mickelson (+7000), Jon Rahm (+1050), and Dustin Johnson (+1500. Mickelson is quite interesting, as he is 70/1 to win and is coming off a PGA Championship victory. While a golfer of his age winning a second major in one year would have long odds, he has been in good form.

Koepka is the clear favorite, and it makes sense given that he is a two-time winner in 2017 and 2018. At +1900, he has 10% of all the money on him and 7% of the total wagers. Another golfer to keep an eye on is Collin Morikawa, who at +2550 has 5% of the money and 4% of the bets, and is the only player over +1500 to have more than 4% of the bets or money on his side besides Mickelson.

Phil Mickelson a popular longshot for PGA bettors at the US Open 2021

As aforementioned, PGA Champion Phil Mickelson is a very popular longshot this week on DraftKings at a massive 70/1. Those odds are still live at +7000 as of early Wednesday morning, which means DraftKings hasn’t budged on Mickelson’s price for the 2021 US Open after public money has come in. As a matter of fact, Mickelson’s odds opened at +6600 so his price has fallen and still has a large bit of public action.

Is Mickelson worth betting on? At +7000, it would not take much in terms of a wager to return a significant amount with $700 for every $10 wagered if he wins. It is definitely a longshot, but so was the PGA Championship in which Mickelson took home.
