Game Preview for Saturday Night
Oregon and VCU are two teams that didn’t do enough to snag a high seed in the NCAA Tournament, but they both have the talent to make a deep run into March Madness. Oregon is led by Dana Altman, one of the best coaches in the country. Meanwhile, the Rams are on their way to their second NCAA Tournament appearance under Mike Rhoades.
The Ducks are a deep and balanced squad, boasting five different players who average double figures. Eugene Omoruyi and Chris Duarte both score 16.7 points per game. Duarte also leads the team in assists (2.3 apg), steals (1.9 spg), and blocks (0.8 bpg).
VCU is built differently. They rely heavily on Nah’Shon Hyland to carry the offensive load. Hyland is averaging 19.7 points per game which led the Atlantic-10. Vince Williams Jr. provides an interior presence with 10.5 points and 5.2 boards per game.
Oregon was the regular season champion in the Pac-12 and played a tougher schedule than VCU this season. That experience and track record could come in handy in Indianapolis.
VCU & Oregon NCAA Tournament Futures Odds
Oregon and VCU are longshots to win a championship, but there is some value on either team to make the Final Four. They will have to move past Iowa in the second round and potentially Kansas in a Sweet 16. And of course, Gonzaga looms as the final boss in the Elite Eight. Here is a look at the championship futures and other tournament props for VCU and Oregon:

VCU vs. Oregon Pick
VCU is capable of winning this game. Hyland is a primetime player who can erupt for 30 points on any given night, but Oregon’s balance and depth will be too much for the Rams. Take Oregon laying the points. Oregon has been a quality road team all season, winners of nine of its 13 games away from home. The Ducks, who have not lost ATS in any of their last six NCAA Tournament games or any of their last eight neutral court games as a favorite, were a perfect 3-0 ATS as favorites of 5-7 points this season. They were also 8-2 ATS as favorites of less than seven points.
Pick: Oregon -6
Final Score Prediction: 75-66
