As we draw closer to the highly anticipated “The Match 2020,” bettors have been pouring money on the DraftKings Sportsbook odds for Tiger vs. Phil Part 2. They’ve taken advantage of the plethora of match props, hole specials and of course, the overall match winner between Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning against Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady. We’ll follow the money and see where users are leaning toward just as the core golf betting event of the weekend draws near.

Tiger vs. Phil Match Winner Picks:

BETTING ADVICE:

As of Wednesday afternoon, Woods/Manning are fairly heavy favorites, according to the DraftKings Sportsbook at (-225). The odds haven’t shifted much since opening, when Woods/Manning opening at (-220) favorites. Despite the heavy odds on the favorites, the money has followed Woods/Manning, who have 53% of the handle. This indicates that the big money bets are on the underdogs while the favorites are generating more bets overall. Let’s not forget, the first time Woods and Mickelson battled in November, Mickelson, who was the underdog, beat Woods on the fourth playoff hole.

On the contrary, this matchup is taking place as Woods’ “home course” at Medalist Golf Club course in Hobe Sound, Florida. That, along with a partner who certainly has more time to golf than his counterpart, is likely a big reason why the handle is on Woods and Manning. Nonetheless, you can’t scoff at anyone who is looking to take plus money on Mickelson and Brady, who currently have the higher amount of individual bets at 54%.

Back 9 Winner Picks:

BETTING ADVICE:

This prop has the highest handle percentage, with the next closest being the “Hole 1 Winner” with Woods and Manning earning a 57% share. With 89% of the money on the Back 9 winner, it’s very clear who is the favorite here. No one has been afraid to put down their money on the (-110) odds for Woods/Manning while the plus money odds (+188) for Mickelson/Brady are mostly being ignored. On the back nine, the format will be a modified alternate shot. This means, all golfers will hit tee shots and the teams will be able to choose which ball to play and who to hit it. With Woods playing at his home course, this is a big advantage for him here. With more time to practice for Manning as well, the bets are clearly reflected of those notions.

Hole 1 Winner Picks:

BETTING ADVICE:

One of the bets that caught my eye was the Hole 1 Winner. The public, one again, is backing the Woods/Manning team with 57% of the handle and 43% of the bets. While the team of Mickelson/Brady doesn’t have the money, they do have the slight edge in the number of bets with 47%. This hole is a 397-yard Par 4 and is listed as the fourth easiest hold on the scorecard relative to overall handicap. We all know that Mickelson has that going for broke mentality so seeing him come out aggressively wouldn’t be much of a surprise on this hole. While a tie is the current favorite (-137), Mickelson/Brady generate some really good odds at +335 as the big underdogs. If you really want to get froggy, you can take Phil Mickelson Birdie on Hole 1 at (+500) for Yes. If you’re not a fan, a No answer would run you at a massive (-770).
