World Series Odds

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays are heading to the World Series. The Dodgers and Rays were both the top-seeded teams in MLB and they were able to win their pennants although they took different routes to get there.

The Rays opened up a 3-0 series lead over the Houston Astros in the American League Championship Series. Houston forced a Game 7 before Tampa Bay figured it out and clinched. The Dodgers, on the other hand, went down 3-1 to the Atlanta Braves before rattling off three wins in a row and making their third World Series in four years.

Here’s the schedule for the 2020 World Series:

Game 1: Tuesday, Oct. 20, 8:09 p.m. ET
Game 2: Wednesday, Oct. 21, 8:08 p.m. ET
Game 3: Friday, Oct. 23, 8:08 p.m. ET
Game 4: Saturday, Oct. 24, 8:08 p.m. ET
Game 5*: Sunday, Oct. 25 8:08 p.m. ET
Game 6*: Tuesday, Oct. 27 8:08 p.m. ET

LA Dodgers vs. Tampa Rays World Series Preview

After both the ALCS and NLCS went seven games, the Dodgers and Rays are in similar positions with their pitching staffs. The rotations and bullpens had to go all out with seven games in seven days. It will likely be Tyler Glasnow against Clayton Kershaw in Game 1. Kershaw is a three-time Cy Young winner, but he’s had his struggles in the postseason. He has an opportunity to make a statement on Tuesday.

The Dodgers have yet to win a World Series despite all their National League success in recent years. The last time Los Angeles won the Fall Classic was in 1988.

However, Tampa Bay still doesn’t have a championship during its franchise’s existence. Under the leadership of Joe Maddon, the Rays went to the World Series in 2008 but fell to the Philadelphia Phillies in five games.

It’s also worth noting that this year’s World Series is taking place at a neutral site in Arlington, Texas. The teams are meeting in Globe Life Park due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A small number of fans will be allowed in the stadium and it stands to reason that there will be more Dodgers fans than Rays supporters.

Oddsmakers tend to believe that this is the year that the Dodgers will finally get over the hump. DraftKings Sportsbook has Los Angeles as a considerable favorite at -200 and -175 to win Game 1. Most books have the same or similar odds. Here’s how the World Series futures look at various sportsbooks.
